Animal Shelter Donation 2023

As the ESG Team approached the animal shelters on the bright and sunny day of 4th October, a mixture of excitement and curiosity surged within us. The collaboration between Mi Equipment Malaysia and Mi Technovation Berhad on the Animal Shelter Donation project for 2023 where we are donating both money and in-kinds items to the following two animal shelters and one neutering society to support their operations, including food, medical expenses, and facility maintenance.
Penang Animal Sanctuary Society (PASS)
The shelter was nestled amidst serene surroundings, offering a peaceful ambiance that contradicted the stories of hardship and abandonment that many of its occupants had endured. There are various stray animals there; some wag their tails excitedly, while others hide in corners.
Penang Stray Rescue Society (PGSR)
Upon entering the shelter, we were greeted by the cheerful staff and volunteers who were excited to introduce the shelter’s furry residents to us, where we were met with a chorus of enthusiastic barks and wagging tails. Each dog's eyes conveyed a silent plea for love and companionship.
Spaying Adoption Management Assistance of Strays Society (SAMA)
SAMA is a neutering society with an adoption programme (not a shelter). The donated dog kibbles are delivered to the volunteer feeders who take care of the animals on the streets as well as the fosterers who look after cats or dogs in their adoption programme. The cash donation is to support the society’s effort on spaying and neutering the strays in reducing the overpopulation of stray and homeless animals.
Our visit to the animal shelters was not only about providing love and attention but also about gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by these facilities in addressing the issue of animal homelessness. This event showcased the resilience of animals in the face of adversity and the dedication of those who work tirelessly to provide them with care and a second chance at happiness.
