Mi In Response To COVID-19

JULY, 2021

Since 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic had caused a major impact across the world. At Mi, we worked relentlessly to help prevent the spread of the virus, while also safeguarding the health and safety of our employees, customers, subcontractors, and suppliers during the pandemic. It is important for company in keeping our people safe while keeping the business running.

Technology Transformation: In-House Developed Contactless Temperature Scanning
Engeye Smart Gate System is Mi’s in-house development system with the objective to use technology as a strategy to control the spread of the COVID-19 through screening, restraining and diminution. Mi introduces and launch the in-house developed Engeye Smart Gate System in December 2020, replacing human to carry out contactless temperature scanning for employees, visitors, and customers. This has reduced the potential contact risk of having administrative staff to conduct the daily temperature scanning while contact tracing is made easy with logs of entry times and temperature readings

Government Compliance and Remote Work
In further efforts to curb spread of the COVID-19 infection at workplaces, work-from-home arrangement as per Malaysia government requirement has been implemented by phases. Since 13 January 2021 for 70% of our management employees during the movement control (MCO) period while 40% of our employees across Mi have been working from home remotely since 1 June 2021 during the full movement control (FMCO) period in compliance with the government effort of fighting COVID-19. We brought training and meetings online to support the continued development of our people in responding to this new paradigm. Our customers could contact us via our helpline and our dedicated customer service team are ready to support customers on situations that impacted by social distancing restrictions.

Keep Everyone Safe at Work

Frequent surface sanitization
At Mi, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces is carried out with a minimum of three times a day or as often as determined is necessary on high-touch surfaces such as doorknobs, fingerprint access system, switches, remote controls etc while we continue routine cleaning and other housekeeping practices.

Dedicated Task Force Team & regular communications
We appointed Dedicated Task Force Team to perform daily line walks across the company premises in ensuring SOP compliance. To raise awareness and promoting safety prevention, we have put up general guidelines and guidance across our company premises to educate and alert all employees about changing outbreak conditions and implementation of infection prevention, infographic posters, memos, and email reminders.

Travel Restriction & Advisory
Mi Technovation has its subsidiaries and customers around the world including but not limited to China, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, and US. The COVID-19 pandemic caused challenges for us to travel around the world to serve our customers as well as for business innovation.

While Mi continues to implement remote work and encourage online meetings, we have minimized travel and made business travel approvals more stringent from reviewing the travel request to continually monitor public information and assessing the safest routes of travels for our employees.

While travel to overseas is unavoidable, Mi ensures employees travel in a safe and protected condition by providing additional travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage for all employees who travel abroad with RM200,000 sum insured. Administrators of Mi conduct research to ensure the chosen flight route is safe and hotel arrangement is clean and convenient with medical facilities located nearby. Sufficient personal protection equipment such as sanitizer and face mask is provided to all travellers. In compliance with the government travel rules and regulations, travellers are required to undergo deep-throat PCR test 72 hours before departure or upon travellers arrival, depending on respective country requirement. All the necessary quarantine and PCR test as required by the local and destination country government are followed and complied accordingly at company expense.

All the travellers will be contacted to update the Company on their swab test results and health status throughout the travel duration. Upon their return to Malaysia, the HR department will follow up closely on their health status and swab test result after their return from quarantine to ensure the employees are safe to return to work in the office. Mi strives to continue in supporting and complying to the government efforts on travelling restrictions and rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
